Description
Castillo de Luna is a fortress located in the Spanish municipality of Rota. Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest with the category of monument, it was built by the house of Arcos, jurisdictional lords of the town for centuries. At the moment it is the seat of the city council of the municipality, of which it is property. Apparently the name of the castle comes from the marriage of Pedro Ponce de León, eldest son and heir of the I Marqués de Cádiz, with a daughter of Álvaro de Luna, who also gave name to the castle of Luna de Mairena del Alcor.
